Golf Courses in Eastern Ohio

Cross the state line into eastern Ohio and you open up another batch of golf options that most Pittsburgh-area golfers overlook. The Youngstown, Columbiana County, and eastern Ohio border region has courses that are genuinely within the Pittsburgh golf orbit, many of them less than an hour from downtown. What you will find here are well-maintained courses at rates that often undercut their Pennsylvania counterparts. Ohio's lower cost of living translates to lower green fees, and several courses in this region offer weekend rates that would qualify as weekday specials at Pittsburgh-area clubs. The terrain is similar to what you find on the Pennsylvania side of the border: rolling hills, tree-lined fairways, and a mix of established and newer courses. For Pittsburgh golfers who live on the west or northwest side of the metro area, some of these Ohio courses are actually closer than courses on the east side of Pittsburgh.
