Affordable Golf Near Pittsburgh: Where to Play on a Budget

Golf on a Budget in Pittsburgh

You do not need a country club membership or a fat wallet to play good golf in Pittsburgh. The region has dozens of public courses where you can get out for under $40, and some where a round costs less than $25. Here is where to find the best deals.

Best Value: Nine-Hole Courses

If you are short on time or cash, nine-hole courses are the move. A typical nine-hole round in the Pittsburgh area runs $12 to $20, and you can finish in under two hours.

Nine-hole courses are also great for beginners who are still building their game and do not want to commit to a four-hour round. You can see every nine-hole course in the region on our 9-hole collection.

Best Value: 18-Hole Courses Under $40

Several full-length courses keep their rates below $40, especially for weekday rounds:

  • South Park Golf Course is one of the best deals in Allegheny County. As a county-operated course, rates stay low while the course quality stays high.
  • Pittsburgh North Golf Club in Gibsonia offers 18 holes for $30 to $50, with the lower end on weekdays.
  • Cedarbrook Golf Course is another affordable option with a straightforward layout that keeps the round moving.

How to Save Even More

Play weekdays. Almost every course in the Pittsburgh area charges less Monday through Friday. The savings can be $10 to $20 per round compared to weekend rates.

Play twilight. Most courses drop their rates for afternoon or twilight tee times, usually starting around 2 to 4 PM depending on the season. You might not finish 18, but you will pay half price.

Walk instead of riding. If the course allows walking, skip the cart and save $10 to $15. You will also get exercise, which is supposedly one of the reasons people play golf.

Look for season passes. If you play the same course regularly, a season pass can pay for itself in a few rounds. Several Pittsburgh-area courses offer annual memberships that include unlimited or discounted rounds.
